Undergraduate: Directed Studies
Melissa is currently in her 4th year of a BSc. in Microbiology at the University of Victoria and is excited to undertake a directed study at the Cameron lab. Melissa’s Directed Studies project will focus upon bioinformatic analysis of selected bacterial genomes to determine if structural mimicry of human proteins is a common bacterial pathogenic strategy, or is unique to the extremely successful human pathogen T. pallidum. Medical sciences and the study of human disease have always intrigued her and she hopes to pursue further studies in immunology and human disease.
