Brigette Church

Ph.D., Post-Doc

Brigette’s background as an acute care nurse and interest in infectious microorganisms led her to finish her BSc in Microbiology (Honors) at UVic before joining the Cameron Lab to complete her PhD in the first study to characterize the interactions between Treponema pallidum and human platelets. Her research has focused using dark field microscopy to capture real-time interactions between treponemes and platelets, flow cytometry and proteomics to examine the activation and secretions of platelets exposed to T. pallidum, and chemotaxis assays to explore the response to treponemes to platelet secretions.
